MG ALBA and the BBC in partnership operate and manage a Gaelic television channel, BBC ALBA. The launch of the channel on 19th September 2008 was a landmark date in the history of both the Gaelic language and public service broadcasting in Scotland. BBC ALBA is the only multi-genre channel in the UK to be made in and broadcast from Scotland. The TV schedule offers News and Sport, Factual, Entertainment, Children’s and Drama. MG ALBA has two facilities. Studio MG ALBA in Stornoway is the editorial hub of the channel and is the focus for channel management, media management and direct contributions to the News. Studio Fàs in Skye is fully equipped to broadcast standard and is available to hire for both training and television or radio production.
